Ingress Shit Rep 之 Today we walk for a lot of rice.

By

A couple of weeks ago, boss Hsinergy ask in chat if anyone is interest in participating for this charity event called "Walk for Rice". Basically, for those who poor english comprehension skill, you walk for rice lah. I don't know how to explain it any simpler. So being the siao on I was back then, and to show case my siao-on ness to all the new birds in Ingress, I straight away ask Hsinergy, "How far?".

No lah, I ask him a proper question.

What is "Walk for Rice"

This is my first time joining such an interesting event. You walk (or run), and South East Community Development Council, together with NTUC, will donate a bowl of rice on behalf of you. Every 300m they will donate one bowl of white rice, one bowl of brown rice, and one bowl of oats to families who need help in the South East District. Oh and fun fact, apparently the Ingress Resistance Singapore (IRS) gang have been doing this for the past two years. Nice right? I bet we already clock more rice than what I can finish in one year.

14th Nov...aka Ops day

Before this, Hsinergy assigned us to our own team. Together with Fluffyjing, gs33x4m, msjmine, lobbieee, we set off at 10am sharp to clock own rice mountain.

From left to right: lobbieee, me, ah mao, fluffyjing, msjmine, ah gou, gs33x4m.

Our route starts from Far East Square, down to Thian Hock Keng Temple, and then we turn left to Lao Pa Sat. From there, we head north towards Justice Triangle (old bird should know this name ah), straight up towards Merlion, make a small detour towards Lim Bo Seng Memorial, and cut through Esplanade. Hsinergy say it's 2km. But when we walk, we know confirm more than that. But that's good news because that means within this group, we will double our bowls of rice! Here's our proof.

Got picture got talk. Double the distance!

The rest!

We aren't the only ones who were summoned for this wonderful initiative by South East Community Development Council and NTUC. In total there are 35 agents, split into 7 teams, on the ground clocking distance. Here are their pictures of proof.

Within this group, there's one who only accept cubes as offerings.

Boss stand in middle, tall and mighty.

Did you guys sabo someone to take photo for you?

Can we talk about how they're the only ones who do portrait?

Ready to strike.

Eh why you also show up?

Ending..

According to stats, we clocked ~170km in total. That's....you guys take our calculator and press buttons to count how many bowls in total lah hor. I lazy to press. It's a fun experience, and we managed to end the whole thing in time before the rain arrives. Yes, this is still Covid season, and that's the reason why everyone is in a team of 5. And no, once we arrive at our destination, all of us have lunch separately. After that, Hsinergy did the rest of the work by tally up the numbers and submitting them for us. Thank you boss

Lastly, I would like to dedicate this post to this two bastards. Peace out!

Operation Star Wars

By
Once again, we've landed ourselves with something crazy. Over the past few months, we've quite quite a number of ops, be it simple or not. This ops, like G.I.R.L, started all because we have a bunch of crazy people who have a tendency to do crazy stuff.

Therefore, I've come up with my own equation : The Slippers' Equation.

"Crazy people + Stupid Ideas = Successful Ops"

Nah, just shitting you guys. Crazy people is one of the important factor, but there's definitely more than that. Anyway, this time, we are doing a starburst, again.

Really, doing another starburst again?

How it all started

It started of as a casual remark from me to @gs33x4m, to find something ridiculously hard to do. I was scanning through the Intel Map to find some hard to access portal, and I end up with a portal which gave me a headache when I helping him out with intel for one of his fielding Ops : A portal which sits at the middle of the Causeway. To make our life harder, I suggested that we should do a starburst from both shores of the strait.

Coincidentally, @MandoMerc have the same idea, and was suggested even before me. Thus, once both sides linked up, the prep work starts.

Key Farming

To give you an idea how stupidly inaccessible that stupid portal (as I affectionately refer it as once in a while) is, to access that portal, you need:

  1. A passport in order to touch it.
  2. A huge fan of the scent of Sea water plus Exhaust gas.
  3. A lot of reason to cross the causeway for no reason.
  4. And a lot of free time to camp there.

Here's a picture.

That thing-y inside that red circle is the Main Character for this ShitRep.

Ok, maybe it isn't THAT inaccessible as I claim it to be. But heck, in order to farm the key, I need to get a passport. That, in my book, is inaccessible. Now this is when our neighbor do their magic. Within 1 month after sounding off this plan, they've already amassed 250 keys. Credits to @Barracuda7 and Comyling, especially to @comyling, who I've heard farmed 100+ keys alone. Because of them, pre-Ops preparation which was projected to last for months was done within such a short time.

Planning

Starburst Ops, one of those Ops which is visually appealing if done correctly. Since we already got through the hardest stage, which is key farming, we agree that we should try to do it as visually appealing as we can. However, in reality, it's impossible to do a well spread out starburst on a half-island scale due to many reasons, mainly because of the uneven spread of portal density.

No matter, the plan is still a go, just that the "visually-appealing" factor is out of the question.

Ops

Once Ops start, which honestly isn't as smooth as it was to be, teams started clearing blocking links all over the place. This is a tedious process because the area we're cutting through is through one of the active region in Singapore, the North. On normal days, it look like spider web colony. The thought of breaking down every single links is a nightmare for us since planning phase.

Yes, everything have to go down.

Halfway through, @Giant02 and @s1216, who already noticed something was going on earlier in the evening, came out to shoot blocking links all over the place. Intel had to dispatch those who're smashing to clear those mini starburst they created. Shoutout to @Giant02, you guys are really annoying, for the right reason. Cheers! :D

Once those are down, Intel gave the call link in whenever they can before they get blocked out by @Giant02. Slowly, links started flying in from Malaysia, West, North-east and Central of Singapore. They are specifically positioned to form, well, THE "visually appealing" factor of the Starburst.

Tadaa~

GIF: Credits to @carsiao

Shall do another shoutout to @Giant02 and @s1216: Oi, your bloody blocking links. :(

After Ops

Once we're done with our stuff, we went for supper at Al-Ameen (basically doing free advertising here).

The early ones.

And ~80% of the gang

Here's @YenneKon's supper :

Cheese Dinosaur(?) Prata.

In the mean time, @Giant02 drove in to the anchor point (with a passport of course), ADA the starburst, went over to have supper with the Malaysian ENL and did their own starburst with whatever key they have.

It's an impromptu one after all!

Round Two!

As usual, there's always more time for more rubbish!

During supper, @gs33x4m told us that he have a bunch of keys we can used to starburst : the couch portal of @Giant02. Since the ball is already rolling, the area is already cleared, the anchor already smashed, why not?

2:30 AM : Those who are still sane and awake for round 2 stay back and get some keys from @gs33x4m. Those who want to participate but don't have the necessary keys went over to hack for some.

3:15 AM : This is the time we all agreed to start shooting out the links. And without fail, the first link touch down once our digital clock strikes 3:15 AM.

The third starburst for the night, hence the Ops name.

Numbers

For the first starburst, we have :

23 outgoing links

276 incoming links
A total of 299 links

AP gain if @Giant02 smashed : ~59k.

longest link thrown from SG : ~14.1 KM.
longest link thrown from MY : ~13.9 KM

Jarvis count : I don't want to know..

Manpower - 60 plus
Time lost - 60 x 3 hours = 180 man hour

For the second starburst, we have :

8 outgoing links
155 incoming links
A total of 163 links

AP gain if smashed : ~31k

After Thoughts

This Ops isn't one of the smoothest Ops for those who are involved because I've decided to bring in new faces to be the Intel role. Not just that, lots of hiccups among us as well. But it's definitely it's us planners' fault, not the participants. Thanks god that the final result is out and it looks good.

@Malaysians : Keys keys keys. Definitely the reason why this Ops even happen in the first places. /Hats off

@Intel : Good job to those fresh faces. And for the Malaysian side, sorry for not giving much info on what's happening over here at SG side and you guys have to dig up info through the chats.

@Everyone : Sorry if I didn't manage to speak to everyone after Ops. Just want to chill around with my bandung. Good work guys, even with the hiccups. Cheers!

"SHIT"REP#6 - #opsnugget

By
It's been a long time since anything retarded happen. So tadaaaa, I'm back for more quality shit posting and nonsense. :)

Prologue

During the double AP period, @litefoot manage to hit 40m AP but still lacking of one onyx badge to level up. Long story short, we tried pushing him to get a black illuminator but was timely interrupted by a group of ENL agents who are doing their own illuminator ops as well. Therefore, @casino swear that he will set up a full scale Black OPS, as we call it, to help @litefoot to get his L16 once and for all. In the end, he didn't show up due to personal reasons. /stare

Preops

Met up for supper at an undisclosed location, at an undisclosed time. From there, keys were passed on to the fielders and the ops begin. Smashers and anchormen were sent out to different locations to clear all sorts of blocking links people come out with during their free time.

Hi, I'm Intel Bear, aka @SlapYouAll

Ops

Once all blocking links were cleared, it's time for the fielders to shine. Everything is smooth and steady, no ENL agent appeared to disturb our fielding ops. However, 15 min into the ops, it started to drizzle. A little flashback to the conversation I had with @Fatherboard in the facilitator's chat room to show you guys...

Protip : No unnecessary rain checks before ops please.

Welp...

The dizzle turns into rain, but not many of us were prepared for wet weather. Cancel? Nah We're "Abaddon-Singapore"(<-click this) trained, so what's rain? Anyway, thanks to a few well prepared ones, we managed to gather a few umbrella for the fielders and continue with the plan. In total, it took us about an hour to push 8 RES agent from various MU count to a Dull, Boring Looking Onyx Black Illuminator Badge.

They were supposed to be showing their badges, but seriously, can you see anything?

After party!!

Tradition: After every OPS, there will be a feast!

After ops cut, we gather at an undisclosed McDonald, at an undisclosed timing for another round of supper. This is when the good ol' "SHIT" happen. You see, during our day to day random meet up at McDonald in TPY with the usual TPY gang, we talked about buying a whole lot of nuggets to gorge ourselves full, but it was never fully realized...till this day.

Even with most of us are buying our own food, @reflecto went up to the counter and ordered 100 piece nuggets in total, with us who are still in the queue laughing in amazement. That's really a lot. Have you ever order something till the counter staff tell you politely "come back and ask for more sauce if you don't have enough" ?

This is obviously the highlight of the ops.

Epilogue

As mentioned before, this Ops was set up for @litefoot due to the failed one we did a month ago. It's really a waste that he have to pull out at the last minute, which allowed @evilkenichi have a shot at a Black Illuminator Badge. Well, there will still be a next time.

And a special thanks to the NE gang for their support with manpower and transport. It's a big Ops. Without your support, it's impossible for us to help the 8 Res Agents to achieve their new badge.

"SHIT"REP#5 - Operation G.I.R.L

By
Prologue

So "SHIT" links are frown upon. The longer it is, the deeper the frown will be.

:(

How it started

One fine day, I was toying with the idea of making the longest "SHIT" link. So far the longest "SHIT" link we had is around 3km. So, TPY to AMK? Deosn't seems long enough. Or shall we link other places while cutting through TPY? No..... how about, across the whole island?!

Welcome to "SHIT"REP #5 - Operation G.I.R.L. It stands for the Great Inland Resistance Link. Objective is to throw the longest INLAND link across Singapore, Mind you, INLAND, that means it will cut through 100% of the island mass, nothing less! But why? What's the point of it?

Just Because We Can!!

Planning

*Now this is something which I didn't talk about for the past few "SHIT"REP because, you know, details are boring. So, no details.*

Planning didn't start till the end of the previous Ops. The idea is there, the anchors are there, but that's all. Which means, everything have to be done within one week. You might be thinking, one week, it's hard but is it even impossible? Well, considering it's my first island-wide Ops, it really is.Therefore, I would like to use this opportunity to thank @casino89 and @GreySm0ke for the guidance and support they gave me during this week. Without them, oh yes, this crazy idea will never become a reality.

OPS Silence

Ops Silence or not, at that point of time, everyone is having their dinner. Seriously, who cares about ingress when we're having dinner. Meanwhile, in any other normal ingress dinner gathering, there's always one or two RP8 with farming mods on them.

OPS

After dinner, that's when the action begins. Everyone started clearing their own blocking links at their own pace. Different sector does different stuff. Some are required to drive long distances to clear blocking links. Some are required to Jarvis more than 10 portals. Anyway, whatever is thrown to us, we managed to clear them all.

Right before the link is thrown

At 2137, with all the blocking links cleared, the green light is given to @Sharkzy to throw the link across to the East anchor. Mission accomplished!

Congratulations to @Sharkzy, who created the longest "SHIT" link in Singapore!

Or not....

You see, most of the active agents had already heard about this plan, be it by mouth or through invitation. However, what they don't know, is that there's a second phase. Not because by choice, but because it's really impromptu.

24 hours before the ops

There's a dinner gathering at the north side of Singapore. After dinner, we went to a small cluster nearby to farm. It was during that period of time @casino89 sold the idea to @wywy. She's interested in it, but need the time to plan. Therefore, we pass her some spare anchor keys before going back home.

7 hours before the ops

Finally @wywy get back to us and tell us that they're going to field towards the anchor. About the same time, @GreySm0ke told us that he managed to get the help of @3cX and @HansipTerpadu to clear some blocking links for a field down south. So other than having a field at the north, we're having another at the south!

North field fielded by @gs33x4m

And south by @AvaCarter

Total damage : ~4.1million mind & mackerel unit

Credits

To @daarling and @ShadoWyfm, thanks for going all the way out to the anchors to farm the keys for us. Saved us lots of trouble!

To @3cX and @HansipTerpadu, thank you so much for that last minute help. Without you guys, those two blocking links will prevent us from fielding over to that south anchor.

To @Golro and @cinnamonchurros, thanks for the pre-clears. Really relieve the load off one of the team who's in charge of that area.

Epilogue

To those guys who're thanking me for planning this Ops, thank the rest who join us for the fun instead. Because without you guys, no matter what the plan is, it will never be a success. Cheers!

"SHIT"REP#4 - Star Burst

By
Prologue

This plan was conceived a couple of months ago by @litefoot. It was supposed to be a simple local ops. Well, supposed..

How it started off

After SBLA was released, a random topic pop up in the local chat room saying that we SHOULD do a starburst. The AMAZING plan we had was to max out the 4 mod slots with SBLA and then shooting out "SHIT" links all around TPY. We randomly picked one and from that day onwards, we started farming the keys whenever possible and let it grow in one of my MUFG capsule. Plan was made, plan was changed, and day by day, the keys grew. Finally when the time is right, we decided to execute this plan and invited everyone we can.

Interesting fact: On the day itself, a total of 95 keys was collected inside the MUFG capsule. Not a single one of them was mass farmed by any one of us. We just made detours here and there to collect them.

OPS Silence

@CalicoCat was the earliest to arrive, by about an hour. And because of that, I have to drag myself out of my bed. Protip: Being too late is bad. Being too early is not that good either. Alright, jokes aside, I still went down to Macdonald to find him and enjoy some lovely air-con.

Slowly, agents started streaming in bit by bit. One table, two table, suddenly we occupied one corner of the restaurant. It's amazing to see such a huge turn up.

OPS

Once everyone arrived, we dragged out the ICs and do a briefing plus passing of keys. Next we head over to the anchor of the starburst to hack a few more keys just in case there's retaliation from the ENLs. Once everyone is ready, we move out to our location and prepare ourselves.

Phase 1 (Starburst)

At 1.32am, @GreySm0ke gave the call to start ops. @ahzpek jarvised the anchor and started the 1 hour countdown. Right after that, links started flying towards the anchor. The whole thing lasted for about 10 min.

It looks real pretty on the ground

Phase 2 (Jellyfish)

At 1.47am, we started Phase 2. The idea is to link up the perimeter so it will look like a jellyfish. This is rather problematic as majority of the agents aren't local players and borders are rather hard to identify on the ground. This took quite awhile before we get it done.

Close enough i guess?

In the mean time, our poor anchor guardian is getting attacked.

Phase 3 (Ice Cream Cone)

This phase is hampered by blocking links. Teams who finished early got sent over to clear them. Next we get another car to go down to the last anchor with pre-farm keys to do the finishing touch. Thanks god @ShadoWyfm noticed that there's 12 keys and get @Felicitous to throw in a SBLA.

And with that, at 2.34am, marks the end of our ~1 hr Starburst Ops!!

That will be 96 links in total.

We did say it's an ice cream, but it look more like a Location Pin instead.

That's all? No "SHIT"?

Sadly, with the North side of Toa Payoh getting fielded up by us, no "SHIT" link can be done. However, something "SHIT" did happen.

@GreySm0ke reported that the net AP gain by smashing that anchor would be roughly 57k. 57K?! That means we must JARVIS as quickly as possible so that no easy AP would be given to anyone! That being said, it still took us about 15 min before we JARVIS it. Then this happen..

So apparently @Ozyrel was on the way, trying to get that easy AP. However, he was literally late by 1 minute. I really feel sorry that he took the effort to come all the way down and not getting much in the end.

Epilogue

One of the reason why this ops is so successful is because of the overwhelming manpower we had. Really appreciate the help we got from those who took the time to come down and make AMAZING plan of ours a reality.

For the two Hong Kong agents, didn't manage to converse much with you guys because I know nuts about Cantonese language. But I still hope that you guys did enjoy this ops.

"SHIT"REP#3 - Field Art

By
Prologue

The initial idea was given by @halette to do a spiral. Now, field art is tricky as you need a nice cluster which is big enough to link around, big enough to be seen on the Intel Map and stays green most of the time so there's no need to deal with RES blocking links. Thus, Kim Keat Temple was chosen as the location.

How it started off

The idea passed on from @halette to @casino89 and finally to me. So i started linking dots on the Intel Map to see what i can come up with and post it in the group chat. Couple of days later, @reflecto's with his unknown artistic side improved my spiral into a snail.

Tadaaaa~!

What's next?

With the plan ready, @casino89 managed to get some last minute manpower to help with the field art. So all we need to do now is wait for the sun to set, moon to come out, the ENLs to sleep, and the vampires to come out ...

12mn

We meet up at Sensory Park for a ritual supper and wait for everyone to arrive. However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, our manpower got cut by 2.

This picture isn't mine, but it's what i had for supper

1.20am

Moved off to our appointed location and start doing what we're supposed to do. Nothing much happen. My only complain is that the portals are giving me VR items instead of keys.

2:04am

Mission accomplished! Everything is darn smooth. In fact, we're expecting resistance as one of the portals we used is the home portal of a local ENL.

A snail.

A snail with moss.

So what's next?

Mandatory "SHIT" linking of course! The two cars went separate ways; SW gang to the mossy area, ours down to Balestier to throw links all around (@FlurryBlue is our guest "SHIT" linker for the night). For some reason, East Asia Institute of Management got used as an anchor again. A brief background story of this portal: This portal is the first portal we used a SBLA on for more "SHIT" links! Once the moss got cleared by the SW gang, links and SBLA were thrown. Seriously, if no one needs them, they can pass it to us so that we can maximize it's potential.

This is god sent.

Due to the position of our snail, not much can be done at the southern part of TPY. So we moved on to continue with our shenanigans. Took us about 3 hours to form this fine piece of art.

I call this "Scudo del West"

Epilogue

This is the first time I've attempted field art here in TPY. Was rather worried that it might not be a successful one even though it's simple.

As for our guest, the SW gang, I'm sorry that i forgot that there's another cluster at Lor 8 that can be smashed and shit linked. Don't think you guys get to do much other than clearing the moss for us, terribly sorry. Thanks for the help with everything though!
